Benchmarking Unit Manufacturing Costs & Value Analysis/Value Engineering Workshops

For a company that develops, manufactures and delivers digital production color printing solutions for
commercial printers, digital service bureaus, and other graphic arts businesses, MT was contracted to
benchmark the unit manufacturing costs for up to 12 subsystems within the company's electro-photographic
module and was also contracted to facilitate
value engineering / value analysis workshops for generating
cost reduction and value engineering ideas to achieve a unit manufacturing cost for each subsystem that
was 30 percent below the benchmarked unit manufacturing costs.
Precision Machining Capabilities and Sourcing Strategy

For a company that produces cement and mortar mixers, MT assessed the company's machining operations
in relation to precision machining sourcing. The project included a comprehensive analysis of internal
methods, processes, and technologies involved in precision machining compared to external outsourcing,
including assessing part families, burden calculations,
benchmark studies
, equipment analysis, and tooling evaluations.
Facility Planning

MT helped a Rochester-area company perform full-scale
facility planning to develop a state-of-the-art
injection molding facility. This project involved review evaluation of the company's existing system,
including developing a current facility layout using CAD and collecting the utility/physical requirements
for all injection molding machines and support equipment.
Long-range Manufacturing Facility Needs Assessment

For a medium-sized company specializing in the production of fireproof lock boxes and safes, MT performed a
long-range manufacturing facility needs assessment as the company needed to implement an automated production
line for steel safe production. The location and configuration of the line needed to be determined in order
for planning for implementation to continue. Project tasks included determining a reasonable products forecast,
determining product and equipment space needs to meet the forecast, determine required WIP space, determine
existing
facility constraints and potentials, determine layout options,
and provide a comparative analysis of options.
